Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you have all been doing well since the end of the Legislative Session! I want to update you with an overview of our greatest accomplishments during this year's session.

I have recently begun a tour of all schools in Cache County, and I am loving the opportunity to meet with teachers, administrators, and students alike!

This year, Utah has once again ranked as one of the least federally dependent states in the country. Our state requires a balanced budget, and Utah's commitment to fiscal responsibility has kept us on a path of self-reliance and resilience.
Thanks to our strong economy and our dedication to responsible spending, we have ranked as the fifth least dependent state.

Utah also continues to be a leader in economic opportunity, having been ranked the number one state for starting a business in the US.
As your representative, I am committed to advancing our pro-business values that have led us to becoming the least expensive state to start a business. Thanks to our competitive tax policies, low startup costs, and reduced regulations, Utah can continue to empower innovation, fuel job creation, and support our entrepreneurs.
This last month, I was appointed to sit on the Federalism Commission in the State of Utah. We have been tasked with developing a nationwide federalism initiative— a non-political, non-partisan effort to restore balance to governing partnerships between the states and the federal government. I am happy to report that we are receiving overwhelming support and interest in the Initiative from representatives from all around the country beginning to join the effort.

Throughout the interim season, I will be meeting with my fellow lawmakers to work on legislation for the upcoming year.
One of my major focuses during the interim is to bring together stakeholders from public education, private education, Utah Fits All, etc. to create a dialogue and build cooperative relationships as we begin to navigate the changing landscape of education in the State. My efforts will focus on freeing up public education to compete in this changing landscape while establishing clear lines of communication with the education community directly with the legislature.
Another major focus during the interim will be to establish a small steering committee of stakeholders in Cache County to have discussions about the Great Salt Lake and water policy. We hope to have solid policy recommendations come from this bipartisan committee.
As always, thank you for your support. Please feel free to reach out anytime to share your thoughts, concerns, ideas, etc. Your voice matters. I cannot do my job and represent District 3 well without your input.
All my best,
|
