October 2025 with Rep. Thompson

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope everyone is doing well as we approach the colder months.

We've addressed some issues during the interim, including education and funding. These topics are important to our community and require careful consideration. I'm honored and grateful to represent our amazing district and work on behalf of all of you.

Our efforts in the House aim to ensure fair representation and uphold our state's rights. Thank you for your continued support and trust.

Recent Interim Highlights

At the Davis School District and Davis Catalyst Center meeting, district reps welcomed us as we reviewed upcoming education bills, including governance updates, attendance tracking, absenteeism support, and school fee waivers.

Our committee reviewed key legislation for the 2026 session, including adoption agency licensing, advertising rules, and birth parent counseling. We approved updating constitutional amendment formatting and passed a bill for stronger service animal protections. We discussed new sentencing guidelines and opened a resolution for approval.

We have discussed many topics in the education and judiciary committees, but if you would like to see the highlights of all committees, click here.

Op-Ed On President Nelson's passing

I recently wrote an op-ed on President Nelson's passing. His loss deeply saddens me, yet I feel empowered to live out his legacy that love overcomes hate and forgiveness triumphs over violence.

"With the recent passing of President Russell M. Nelson on September 28th, 2025, I wanted to remind everyone that his life is more than a memory; it’s a message. He taught and showed that love is stronger than contempt, peace more powerful than rage."

Investing in Utah's Future, Responsibly

Recent legislation enables Utah's public colleges and universities to reinvest $60 million into high-demand programs such as engineering, AI, biotech, and mental health without increasing tuition or taxes. This strategic use of taxpayer dollars supports education, prepares students for future jobs, and strengthens our economy. These investments demonstrate fiscal responsibility and a clear commitment to Utah's future.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you have on the work I am doing. You can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and X to stay up to date on me and events happening in Cache Valley.
