Reliable, Affordable, and Cleaner Energy for a Growing Utah: As a policymaker, my responsibility is to ensure Utah families and businesses have access to energy that is reliable, affordable, and capable of meeting our state's growing needs. Meeting that responsibility means weighing tradeoffs carefully and making decisions based on evidence, long-term planning, and the realities of how our electric grid actually operates.
Conservatives Should Lead on Clean Energy: I strongly support expanding clean energy resources like solar, wind, geothermal, energy storage, and advanced nuclear as part of Utah's energy future. Protecting our land, air, and water is a conservative value, and we can pursue responsible energy development while protecting taxpayers and ratepayers.
Innovation, Not Mandates: The path to cleaner, more affordable energy comes through innovation, competition, and free markets—not one-size-fits-all federal mandates. I support policies that empower Utah to lead with new technologies and allow market-driven solutions to deliver reliable, affordable energy.
Keeping Affordability at the Center: Here's a reality that too often gets left out of the energy conversation: every energy decision shows up on someone's utility bill. Good stewardship means being honest about cost and reliability, not just ambition. Ordinary Utahns pay the price when policies move too fast or current technology limits are ignored. A responsible energy transition has to work not only for the environment, but for the people expected to afford it.
Energy Independence and Reliability: A strong, independent energy supply is both an economic advantage and a matter of security. The more energy we produce right here at home, the less we depend on unstable foreign sources and the more we protect Utah families and businesses from price shocks beyond our control. We must continue investing in a reliable, resilient grid that can meet demand, embrace new energy technologies, and ensure Utahns have dependable power when they need it most.
